From Uganda to You: Join Our Move Your Body Challenge
Back in May, a group of seven of us from the Flanci Active Community headed to Uganda for the trip of a lifetime. Our plan was to run a marathon, see some wildlife, and do some community work.
The Uganda Marathon was one of the toughest and most rewarding experiences any of us had encountered. The run was incredibly challenging, with relentless hills and intense heat testing every step. Yet every struggle was outweighed by the breathtaking scenery, the warmth of the local communities cheering us on, and the incredible marathon crew who kept us going with cold drinks, fresh fruit, and constant encouragement.
But what made the experience truly unforgettable was seeing firsthand the community projects the marathon supports. We visited a small medical and midwifery clinic run single‑handedly by an inspiring young woman. She works tirelessly despite having virtually no resources - no electricity, no running water - just determination and compassion.

We also met a group of ten women who had escaped violent and abusive relationships. Through the support of the project, they are rebuilding their lives. They grow crops and raise chickens to sell eggs, creating an income that allows them to provide for themselves and their children with dignity and hope.
We came home inspired by the resilience of the people we met and deeply moved by the challenges they face every day. We knew we wanted to do more - so we've committed to supporting these two incredible projects.
Our 'Move Your Body' Challenge
We'd love to see you get moving over the August Bank Holiday weekend by joining our Move Your Body virtual challenge! You choose the activity - whether you run 10k, walk around your local park, skip down the promenade, hike up a hill, or dance around the garden - it all counts.

Let's celebrate movement, and make a genuine difference to people whose daily struggles are hard to imagine. Share your activity pics on the Flanci Active Community Facebook page, and know that your participation is bringing hope and opportunity to people who need it most.
In exchange for an entry fee of £20, each participant will receive a limited‑edition handmade bracelet crafted by one of the Ugandan locals - a small reminder of the lives you're helping to change. It will be donated in its entirety to our Ugandan projects.
