Nicky's top tips to running in winter

Here are Nicky’s top tips to keep you running through the winter months while staying safe, warm, and comfortable. From layering up with the right gear to making sure you're visible on those darker days, these handy hints will help you tackle the cold weather and enjoy your runs no matter the season! Stay cosy, stay safe, and keep going, whatever the weather throws your way.

Don't wear black! You want to stand out, right? Well, did you know we have an incredible reflective range? Don't blend in—stand out and shine!

If you're the clumsy type and end up tumbling into a ditch, bright clothes will make you easy to spot! Bonus points for safety, eh?

Layer up! It’s all about flexibility. You can take a layer off or pop it back on whenever you need. Sorted!

Arm sleeves are an absolute game changer! Perfect for those times when you’re loitering at the start of an event but don’t fancy committing to a jacket. They’re so easy to whip off and stuff in a pocket once you’re warmed up.

Warm up! A few quick stretches will wake up those muscles and make your workout much smoother. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later.

A decent head torch is light as a feather and super handy, especially if you're like me and end up running further than you planned! At least you'll be seen and able to see as you shuffle your way home in the dark.

Fully charged phone! Keep it handy in a pocket because the cold zaps your battery quicker than you think. Plus, you never know when you’ll need to snap that picture-perfect moment or, you know, actually use your phone!

Even when it's chilly, you still sweat, so pack a drink for those longer runs. Or at least have some cash on you in case you fancy a pit stop at the shop!

An emergency bivvy bag or space blanket weighs next to nothing and fits snugly in your race vest. You never know when you might need it. Ever slipped over while out running solo?

Enjoy! Some of my absolute favourite runs are on those crisp, sunny winter days. Go on, get out there and make the most of it!
