About This Data

Every figure in this report is pulled from FLANCI's own published size charts and product specifications, the same ones we use to cut, size and sell every skort we make. Where a data point needs independent lab or panel testing beyond what we already publish, we've said so plainly rather than guessing.

Size Range: Built for Nine Sizes, Not Retrofitted to Them

FLANCI skorts run across nine sizes, from 2XS to 4XL, in two outer skirt lengths: Regular and Long. That's not a size range with a few plus sizes bolted on afterwards. It's the range the product was designed around from the first size up.

The table below is FLANCI's own published sizing: waist measurement for men's sizing, UK dress size for women's sizing, and the one figure that never moves across the range.

The One Number That Doesn't Change: A Fixed 7.5 Inch Inseam

Most skort and short ranges shorten the inseam as the size gets smaller, on the assumption that a smaller body needs less fabric to feel covered. FLANCI does the opposite: every single skort, in every one of the nine sizes, has the same 7.5 inch built-in short inseam. Choosing a bigger size never means a shorter inseam, and choosing a smaller size never means a longer one.

This is a deliberate design choice, not a limitation of the pattern. The inseam sits at mid-thigh on every body, whatever size you order. What does change is your outer skirt length: choose Regular or Long depending on how much coverage you want over the top.

Fabric, Weight and Performance

FLANCI skorts use a polyester and elastane blend, the same fabric family behind most performance activewear, but at a heavier weight than the market average. That extra weight is a deliberate choice for durability and structure, not a shortcut we ended up with.

The fabric carries 360 degree stretch with strong recovery, so it moves with you through a squat or a stride and holds its shape afterwards rather than sagging or going see-through. It's moisture-wicking and breathable, and several FLANCI prints carry UPF sun protection for outdoor training.

Fit, In Practice

Numbers on a chart only tell you so much, so here's what fit actually looks like once a skort is on and moving.

Runners have told us the fit held up over a full 10 kilometre race with no chafing, even for someone who'd come into it worried about exactly that. Others have said the fit felt true to size at a UK size 18, with room to size up if their hip shape needed it, and that the thigh pockets stayed secure even fully loaded with gels and a phone. A recurring, useful piece of feedback has been a request for slightly deeper thigh pockets and a touch more room in the back pocket, which is a genuine build note for future ranges rather than a fit failure in the current one.

How This Compares to the Wider Market

Most mainstream running shorts and skorts are cut across a narrower size band, often stopping well short of a UK 24 to 26, and many shorten the inseam as sizes get smaller rather than holding it constant. Our own review of the “skorts” search results found no running-specialist brand on page one, and no generalist retailer on that page offering a size range built to 4XL with running-specific construction.

That gap is the whole reason this report exists. If every skort sizing chart you've seen stops at a UK 18 or quietly shrinks the inseam as sizes go up, this is what the alternative looks like in practice.

Does the skort inseam get shorter in smaller sizes?

What's the difference between Regular and Long?

Regular and Long refer to the outer skirt length, not the built-in shorts underneath. The 7.5 inch inseam stays the same either way; Long simply gives you more coverage over the top.

Heavier. FLANCI chooses a heavier-than-average polyester and elastane blend specifically for durability and structure, rather than the lightest fabric that would technically do the job.
